♡ ⠀⠀ ⌣ ⠀ ৶⠀ . The Hedonic Treadmill and Reality Shifting a/n : also yes i know i have been inactive but uh.. that's changing!!
When it comes to reality shifting, a lot of people (myself included!) can get caught up in chasing that next big shift—whether it’s to a desired reality (DR), manifesting an ideal life, or constantly searching for the next goal. It's easy to think, "Once I get there, everything will be perfect." But, just like in the hedonic treadmill theory, no matter what reality we shift into, our mind will eventually adjust to the excitement and newness, and we could find ourselves back at our emotional starting point.
Why? Because external realities—no matter how amazing—don’t necessarily change our internal emotional state in the long term. We might shift to a reality where everything we want is possible, but eventually, our mind adapts, and we’re left searching for the next thrill or change.
♡ ⠀⠀ ⌣ ⠀ ৶⠀ . How to Break the Cycle in Reality Shifting
The goal isn’t just to keep hopping between realities in search of happiness, but to cultivate inner stability and fulfillment wherever we go. Here are some ways you can break the cycle while shifting:
꒰ 𓂃 Focus on Inner Growth Instead of solely focusing on the external features of the reality you want to shift to, start by strengthening your inner mindset. Work on self-awareness, mindfulness, and personal growth so that when you do shift, you're bringing a strong and balanced mindset with you.
꒰ 𓂃 Practice Gratitude Gratitude is a game-changer for shifting out of the hedonic treadmill. By appreciating the small joys in each reality, you train your mind to find contentment in the present moment, instead of constantly searching for the next thrill. Whether you're in your CR (current reality) or DR, gratitude grounds you.
꒰ 𓂃 Understand Your Emotional Baseline Recognize that no matter which reality you're in, your emotions are cyclical, and you will adapt to new highs. Instead of chasing temporary highs, embrace the process of shifting as a tool for growth, not just an escape from dissatisfaction.
꒰ 𓂃 Set Meaningful Intentions Shift with purpose. Instead of focusing purely on the excitement or aesthetics of your dream reality, ask yourself: What will this shift help me learn? or How will this shift support my personal evolution? Meaningful intentions create lasting fulfillment.
꒰ 𓂃 Balance Between Realities Don’t get caught up in trying to live in one “perfect” reality. Remember, each reality—current or dream—has something to offer. Finding balance between them, and understanding that shifting is a journey, helps break the cycle of constantly seeking new highs.

So..... can we talk about how Sphene is a foil to Shadowbringers G'raha?
Like, under slightly different circumstances, or if he started to doubt his plan having a chance at success, he could've distressingly easily become like Sphene.
He admits to how he tried everything he could think of to save the WoL on the gondola ride. And the unspoken part, that perhaps even he doesn't consciously realize or want to acknowledge, is that he did everything he could think of without violating his morals. He held onto lines he wouldn't cross.
But what if he hadn't? What if his poor heart finally broke and he decided the means were justified if it meant saving the one person he wanted to save?
Or what if Emet got to him and figured him out sooner and managed to get the idea in his head that an umbral calamity would be a small price to pay if it meant saving the WoL?
The scale is arguably smaller, and much more intimate and close to the heart, than Sphene, but the steps to lead to that alternate timeline where our precious G'raha Tia burns the world and beyond if it means saving us was probably a lot closer than we ever dare consider.
The fact that he managed to endure and save everything that he did while going through all of the research about what leads up to the WoL's death in the world he woke up to, and didn't lose his morals in the pursuit of saving the WoL is an impressive display of mental and emotional fortitude.
But his poor heart. All those years of stress and frustration whenever a wall was hit, or an idea didn't work out when applied even in theory.
Their desperation levels even reach similar points. Because on every try to pull the WoL to the First, there IS desperation in his voice, increasingly so with each attempt. The try that finally works, he rushes to where they land because he has to be sure. He has to see with his own eyes to confirm that this plan that he finally landed on after YEARS of hard work and research is at least working on step 1. That he's finally gained a foothold on his goal.
And what a blessing that that plan didn't end up like Sphene's. That he never hit a point where the thought of "by any means necessary" truly meant by ANY means necessary. But now I wonder and worry about how close he may have been to that edge.
"This tragedy, even greater than the Seventh Umbral Calamity, must be undone. If history must be unwritten, let it be unwritten." - G'raha Tia about his goal to save the WoL
"For them I will do anything. If bloodshed will save my subjects, I will become history's most brutal Queen." - Sphene about her goal to save the Endless

so i got more ideas for an extension of this post
Ideas about how the acquire this child below, if details don't line up with canon pls be nice i have the memory of a goldfish sometimes
The King finally being able to remember the forgotten island is the first step out of many to being able to recover what happened to it and how to recover its culture and ppl
It takes a while for ppl to realize this tho, and about a decade after the events of act 6 happen, Odile finds out that ppl are now able to travel to the island. Results are mixed, many report that if you get lost you have a slim chance of coming back out remembered, but the more successful trips bring back things like shells and fruit from the island
Odile shares this information with the gang when they all visit Bonnie, closest place to the island, and Siffrin really wants to go. And since Siff is going, everyone else is too. They paint on everyone's arms necessary information in case they get separated and temporarily forget, and get a long ass rope to tie to everyone.
The moment they get to the island they discover quite a bit but the entrance to the cities and civilization is blocked up with highly advanced mechanics.
Siffrin, in some way, finds a path from this and discovers a room. A room coated in wish craft of some sort. Inside there is a baby in a crib sleeping peacefully. Stepping inside makes the wish craft fade, and the baby begins to cry hysterically. A very very VERY confused Siffrin tries to comfort the baby but for xyz reason has to rush out of the room. Maybe someone set off a trap idk.
Siffrin and the gang make it back to the boats, they still have a lot to do before the island can be unforgotten and rediscovered, but for now they have this KID to deal with
Most prominent, and correct, theories are that someone wished for the baby to be kept in a state of inertia right before the wish that made the island forgotten. Siffrin stepping into the room made it vanish since the wish wanted the baby to be okay until ppl on the island were back to normal, Siffrin, an islander, set it off.
Siffrin would be so so lost but still trying their best with the baby, everyone else also trying their shot. Bonnie might try to see if they have anything a baby could eat but ofc they don't they didn't anticipate a baby joining the party for the short trip. Odile finds the situation both humorous and aggravating. Baby eventually stops crying, back in Siffrin's arms and everyone finds it adorable to see Siffrin acting borderline parental to the kid. It looks like they are biologically related too! Both with blackless hair and clothing of the same material. Isa melts at the sight.
When they get back they'll get the infant a check up to ensure everything is okay and the wish craft didn't have any adverse affects. While waiting, the fam has a lot to talk about. Mainly Siff and Isa. Discussion of where the baby is gonna go ensues alongside plan for getting farther into the island. The baby stays in the care of a nursery until Siff and Isa decide if they'll take the baby in. Isa's never been against the idea of having kids, and Siff has never considered it until this point. They'd have a bunch of worries about messing it up, but overall they want to keep a close eye on someone so connected to their country. And if they are investigating the culture, maybe the baby would have a better chance at learning it if it stayed with them...
A month of discussion and preparation, they sign the adoption papers, or do whatever in the world of isat that would confirm the baby is part of their family
They might name the baby something related to Inertia, and if its literally "Inertia" then a cute nickname would be Tia, I like the idea of them getting a bby girl. If we're being honest though they 100% would name her smthn like a pun i just can't think of anything creative atm. So lets just go with tia for now. Their friends would celebrate in the way all their different cultures do and bby's got a loving family.
Isa and Frin decide early on that they are going to try to raise the kid bilingual, Frin trying to speak the forgotten island's language as much as possible. Research into the forgotten island continues as Tia grows up, including how to teach the language and write it down. It's slower than anyone would like to admit
Tia grows up and upon learning that they were found twenty years after the island was forgotten, tries her shot at underage drinking "Y'know, ✨✨I'm actually twenty years older than i appear✨✨"
it never works

the boat ride with kim and eddie is such an important conversation that i feel many people forget in discussing how eddie is afraid to let people in and him admitting to not being aware of things and she is almost a vessel for the viewer in seeing what we see but he can’t despite being his vessel of shannon while it was such a crazy storyline i think it felt lack luster because it was not brought up in s8 and if they had the talk with chris or even bobby about it i just feel like it’s another deep plot they had for eddie and threw it away even her coming as shannon for him to talk is so insane but when u hear what he is saying it’s weighs heavy so many missed things this season in the writing
TRUE !! I just had to rewatch it right now but the line she says , ' You have more to give than you think anyone can take ' says A LOT . About Eddie , about why he can't let anyone in , why he's afraid to do so because he has been conditioned time and time again that when he does let himself give , he can lose it all just like that . Shannon's death , Buck and his own numerous NDE's . Chris after all the Kim stuff . That definitely is a line that is never talked about , I didn't even remember it whatsoever until now but that means a lot for Eddie . I have such a love hate relationship with the Kim storyline because actually watching it the first time it was CRAZY and then he messed it up with Chris walking in on him but then Chris just leaves and is gone for half of season 8 and it's never even mentioned WHY again ... It was a good soap drama esq plotline in theory but in practice it definitely was lackluster especially when you binge through it .... Her being Shannon's fucking CLONE and talking to Eddie like her and like she knows him as her was good but the way it did explode in his face was just . Bad I think because Nobody wanted Chris to just leave like that .. it's valid he did but I think most of the fanbase would've wanted him to go to Buck or Tia Pepa or even Abuela instead of leaving for MONTHS in irl and the show :( the timing was just , subpar and retrospection of it now , I definitely wish it could've been resolved way better and faster then how it went with the Texas arc and half of it being off screen anyway . Eddie's such an amazing character with such a complex thought process but the show just , throws it away because they seem like they can't be bothered which really sucks . This could've been a great real plot with consequences that get resolved satisfyingly and then leading to another arc where he realizes what he truly wants and needs in his life and relationships but we just . Absolutely got none of that unfortunately even though I did like the fights and angst he had with Buck and the moving out / in stuff was really enjoyable . It's like they're only feeding us ounces of Eddie whump and angst and then just forgetting about it because they can't care enough :/

Tiallu Plays: Tiallu Illuwyd & Thorne Bailey
“After the surprising divorce of yet another Simerican power couple, Tiallu Illuwyd and Thorne Bailey have been seen together around San My more often. Bailey, who moved to San My after his divorce, was introduced to Tiallu Illuwyd by Octavia Moon herself.”
I thought you'd appreciate a recap of what happened before the “Future Snippet” post. If you weren't following me on Pillowfort in 2023 already, you missed half of the story.
Tiallu was devastated by the divorce and needed someone to talk to. So I invited Octavia Moon and Thorne Bailey, the other power couple who unexpectedly divorced before. Well, not only did Thorne and Tiallu find each other extremely attractive, suggestive looks from Thorne included, but their personalities also matched. Long story short: They fell in love head over heels.
Interestingly, Thorne had been single for a while after he and Tav divorced. I introduced Thorne to various single women, but all became acquaintances or friends. The women Thorne found attractive were either taken or not into men. Tiallu and Thorne had met before. They even had a tiny friendship bar. But Thorne never made advances as long as Tiallu was married. Well done, Thorne.
Tiallu moved in with Thorne, but kept her house in Willow Creek. (In theory. Sims doesn't let you keep a lot you're not living on.) Fall and winter passed and spring came, and Thorne, the family man he'd become, wanted to put his money where his mouth is. He wanted to start a family with Tia: marriage, kids, and all that stuff. (The wish was mutual, btw.) Around Love Day, Thorne and Tia went on a short trip to Tartosa. The two had a lovely date on Love Day and Thorne proposed to Tia, who wholeheartedly said yes.
Thorne's bachelor pad was too small for a family, so Tia and Thorne had to decide where to move. Back to Willow Creek, or back to Del Sol Valley? Since Willow Creek was closer to San Myshuno and Tia wasn't made to be a big city girl, they moved into Tia's house in Willow Creek. (Witch shed, I missed you.)

A Call for Community
I’ve been reading a very sad, fascinating book lately. It’s brought up some thoughts about spiritual community and, especially, how important it is now and in the immediate future. The book itself is called A Well Trained Wife by Tia Levings. I know - Red flags immediately. Stay with me here.
In this book, Tia explains her experience with religion over time - from being a teenager where “going to church meant I had the power to make everyone happy” to being a wife in the thick of an Evangelical Calvinist sect. Specifically, in a few separate spots, she mentions how it was often frowned upon for the women to gather, to make friendships in the church. The men and the Patriarchal leaders in charge would frown upon it, or even outright forbid it.
Women without community were simply more vulnerable. Submissive. Less open to what Could Be.
Now I want to specify before we go any further that I identify as non-binary. I use they/them pronouns, wear a binder, and have historically been incredibly uncomfortable with femininity in regards to myself. I am, however, female presenting to the general public. There is your disclaimer. The points Levings makes, while she writes about women, are applicable to all.
We see this frequently, I think, throughout history. The best way to control people is to seize their communities, break them up, or pervert them to your desires. Native American assimilation, the conversion of Pagan deities and figures into Saints, the Witch Trials. The historical talks and theories about the rise of Patriarchy. All different but with a similar, bitter aftertaste.
Preventing a diverse community and breaking up the pack allows for the hunter to pick off the wanderers, the thinkers, the rebels all that more easily. Convincing people that their salvation is in the hands of someone else. Isolation to control. Bring them back into the fold of the Church, under one umbrella of thought, but not too close. You don’t want them to gather to form their own thoughts now, do you? Let me tell you how to eat and dress and live, and if you do a good enough job maybe you’ll make it into Heaven! Convert others, convince yourself that you are saving them, don’t listen to their Original Thoughts! Clearly, that is the Devil Himself. Hate anyone that is different because they just seek to bring you into Damnation. Don’t worry. I know you’re struggling with that - Just be quiet and I’ll tell you how to think.
Control comes from fear, from sameness. Rinse, repeat.
So why now, why this call for community? Clearly, community building can turn into something horrible. I am calling for discernment here.
Community has the potential to be something beautiful. It can be a space where people with many viewpoints can come together to share and meld ideas. Collaboration breeds innovation when it is built with respect and discernment. And what do I mean when I say discernment? I mean using your Critical Thinking Brain and your intuition both. Let us not be led astray by beautiful influencers promising to sell you spiritual awakenings on a silver platter for the low price of $2,500 (Do you see how similar that is to the promises of organized religion?). Does a community start to give you an icky feeling, the shadow of “Something isn’t right here…”? Leave it immediately.
Beware of the Echo Chamber - if it’s always the same ideas circulating around, watch for polarization and extremism.
Beware of the Cult Leader mentality. No one person can save you.
Beware of anyone trying to sell you Spirituality at absurd prices. $50-$200 for a class is normal. $2,500 is not.
Beware of anyone asking you to do anything you aren’t comfortable with.
Humans need connection. We need the ability to form relationships with other people that mean something. People to love, people to bond with, parents, children, mentors, teachers, students, guides, enemies. For some, the relationships that we build define our place in the world. We need a system that we can rely upon for support, to keep us company and to help us in our darkest times. Specifically in regards to spiritually, it can be immensely helpful to connect with those deemed “Other” by society that share similar views. Will Megan the Christian Neighbor understand when you’re discussing energy movement and directing will? Possibly. More than likely, no. Others can, they can validate you, commiserate with you, and stand in support of your goals and trials both. They can provide you with resources and hope and love. They can teach you, or allow themselves to be taught by you. They can make you feel less alone. And of course, there is always strength in numbers.
Finally, for as much as I love the internet, I urge you to seek out real connections as well. Find a local Witch/Pagan/Spiritual group you vibe with (but leave if they ask you to do something you’re not comfortable with - I cannot stress this enough), talk to your neighbors, give and receive support and gratitude. Go to the library. Start a group, if you’re so inclined. Volunteer to give back to the community. You are not going to agree with everyone and I can hazard a guess that you may even get into arguments with others that hold other beliefs. That’s okay. Hold space for that and move on. Be respectful.
Before the world changes in the next month - In a world that seeks to divide, come together with those in your community. When bad things happen, fall back on the people there to support you. Remember that most people are simply trying their best. Thanks for reading. Go in peace.

7x10 Speculations
So, today we got stills (x) and I have some theories. It’s going to be multiples theories at once, so buckle up.
First, I think the episode will pick on the same night when Athena’s house burns.
The dinner date – The aftermath of the Kim/Shannon situation
I think Buck’s night starts by him cooking dinner for his dinner date with Tommy. Tommy wouldn’t be here maybe because he’s still on shift. Then, he receives a phone call by Eddie who is losing his shit after the Kim/Shannon incident. Buck talks with Eddie who explains to him everything. Maybe Eddie will explain that Chris has locked himself in his room and both Kim and Marisol broke up with him. Then, the Diaz Parents are here. Why are they are? Same reason that Abuela was there for the wedding, YOLO. Maybe the Diaz parents are there to visits family, don’t forget that Tia Pepa also lives in LA. I think they invite themselves or Chris called them since he knew they were coming. But I think they invite themselves and they feel that something is fishy. Just after they arrive, Buck gets a phone call from Tommy and is happily leaving. Then the Diaz parents look at Eddie who has no one in his corner. Eddie explains the situation and even shows them the photo.
Buck then has his date with Tommy and everything seems to go well. Either during dinner or after, Buck gets a phone call telling him that Bobby and Athena are in the hospital. Tommy goes with him; Lou has been seen wearing the same clothes that he is during the dinner dates.
The Madney – Henren scene:
From interview, we have seen JLH wearing the same outfits that she’s wearing on the still and on that same interview, Aisha was wearing the same outfit that she’s wearing on the hospital stills. It seems to be a happy scene full of smile and sunshine. We know that’s not going to last. JLH had said either in interview or in a story that Chimney and Maddie will do something romantic for a couple. My guess is that after the Mara situation, Chim and Maddie invites the Wilson at their home and try to find a solution. There’s a theory that’s roaming around and I agree with that theory. I also think that the solution find would be Chimney and Maddie proposing to become Mara’s foster family until she gets permanently placed at the Wilsons. Will they succeed on the episode? Not likely. The episode seem packed but I think they will be one step closer and that will set their storyline for S8. Then either Chim or Hen gets a phone call.
The hospital:
I think Chim and Hen would arrive alone and first. Upon seeing that neither Buck nor Eddie are there, I think they will call them and ask them to come. Then, the four of them are. Athena wakes up and asks for Bobby. Bobby is not doing well because well the guy is on a ventilator. So, not fun. Then the chief comes and informs them of Bobby’s retirement. Which is why they are shocked. I also think that Gerrard might replace them, we saw the actor on set. I have another theory so more on that later.
The day after: I think most of the episode will be spend during the morning after and I have multiple points.
The 118 will stay all night and the scene with Chief Simpson might be the day after.
All the 118 have a moment with Bobby. Eddie has one and will pray using the Bible gave him.
Hen might leave first, maybe to confront the congresswoman or to have a meeting with Dedra. She will then call Chim to explain the situation.
Buck and Eddie will go home and change. The next day, Eddie will have a talk with Christopher who will say that he’ll leave with his grandparents. Eddie will not take the news well and will have a talk with his dad. Since the previous season, Ramon became more and more supportive of Eddie so I think he will try to recomfort Eddie by telling that Christopher leaving for the summer might be a good thing. If one of the Diaz parents will attack Eddie, it would be Helena.
Before Chris leaves, Buck goes to say goodbye to Chris. Before leaving, Eddie and Chris will have a heart to heart and maybe Chris will tell that he’s mad at his dad and leave without forgiving him.
Athena will leave the hospital and goes to Amir. She feels that something else happen in the desert will find a photo that would prove that. She goes to Amir to asks for question. But then, the troubles come. I think that the Cartel are the one that burned Athena’s house. They have the resources. Also it won’t be the congresswoman; Bobby has no tied to her son’s death. Hen was in charge that night. Not Bobby. Bobby was away.
What about Gerrard?
The fact that he was bought from the flashback is interesting. The guy will for sure come back in S8. I think he will replace Bobby as captain. Gerrard is just one lucky son of a bitch.
Why wouldn’t it be one of the 118? Let me explain
We know for Chim that he doesn’t want to be captain. The guy had the job and prayed the Lord for Bobby to come back.
I think Eddie doesn’t want to be captain. He seems content in his position and might not want to be captain.
Buck is not ready to be Captain. Buck is the one that is more captain material. He was shown to have leadership skills. But he also lacks rigor and discipline. He would be a great captain, could even be better than Bobby. But now is too early and he still has a hot head temperament.
But then why not Hen? She was acting Captain twice while Bobby was gone, one in S6 when Bobby was in Florida because Athena’s dad had a heart-attack, once in S7 when Bobby was on a cruise. So, if Hen had been already been acting Captain twice, why not a third time? Two possibilities:
One. The chief refuses because of disciplinary reasons. She might got a medal because of the cruise ship situation. She still disobeyed orders. She might not be awarded because of that.
Two. The congresswoman. I don’t think we will see the last of her in S7. She is razor focus on ruining Hen’s life and she pulled out the Mara situation pretty easily. Who said that she doesn’t have another card in her hand?

ngl it makes me nervous that in episode ONE after only TWO MONTHS of dating, our first intro to eddie and marisol together is them in his house being domestic and smiling at his son as if they’re both his parents….. i know ryan said their relationship would be up and down and later on eddie is considering how she fits in his life, but they seem to be serious and settled real quick. like not only has she met chris already but she’s hanging at their house with them?? hmm what are your initial thoughts post-premiere?
Okay, imma start this off by saying I only watched the episode once and I usually type my metas and theories out after at least 2 watches (I do one for the plot and one for details) so I might come back to this later. Also, my first reaction to this was actually "Shannon's ghost had more screentime, we're fine". But one, we didn't actually see the date, we saw Eddie telling Buck about the date, even Ana had multiple dates we saw as they happened not as flashbacks, and Eddie was having panic attacks about her. Two, the show made a big show of how Chris is being supportive this time around and Eddie has this whole no secrets thing with Chris policy so Marisol being at the house makes some sense when you look at it that way. Three, this one is less about the episode and more about Eddie's character as a whole, Eddie overcorrects with everything that went wrong once. From telling Chris he can do anything and being ready to crush that because Chris fell off a skateboard to quitting without a second thought because Chris was scared. Tia Pepa said he's gonna die alone, so he went golfing and hiking to meet people when we never saw him golfing or hiking. His automatic reaction to doing something wrong is to do the opposite. And that reflects on his relationships too. He barged into the loft because Buck was mopping after almost dying and that ended with Buck and Chris getting caught in the tsunami, so the next time Buck died, he stayed off Maddie's list and waited for Buck to come to him. He held Shannon at arm's length for months and then she died so he lost months he could've had with her, so when Buck apologizes he forgives him with no hesitation. Shannon kept accusing him of not actually being present in their relationship with him joining the army, so he's all with Ana way too fast. And that could be the case with Marisol too. I stand by the fact we still don't have enough information on Marisol to get anything definitive, which in itself is proof they are not trying to make us care about her or the relationship, but the thing it's the couples episode, the characters reintroduction episode, the show of dynamics episode, and Marisol's introduction as Eddie's girlfriend episode, and it has more of Eddie's dead wife than his girlfriend (which is exactly what I needed, justice for Shannon Diaz and the way she was written to be fridged). Sure, Marisol is chaperoning with Eddie, but Eddie is talking to Buck about the date, not in the date, so the date is not even relevant enough for us to actually see it, and sure she's existing in the same space as Chris but when Eddie needs actual help with the situation, he goes to Buck. We also don't know how she met Chris, and we didn't see them interact, so we don't know how she exists in Chris' life yet. So, like, we're fine.
And also, Buck and Eddie have some personal growth to do before they can get together in a satisfying way and that could absolutely come from low-stakes relationships with other people, like Eddie learning to have fun and Buck learning how to ask for things.

Y'all do not worry about Eddie & Marisol. Like be so fr. He does not like this girl. He has actively been avoiding finding dates all last season. Up to 6x13, there was no plot point regarding Eddie in the dating scene, until his Tia literally tried to trap him.
Tumblr media
He constantly turns down BEAUTIFUL WOMEN, he voices that he does not want to go on these dates with these women, he goes on these dates already planning to turn them down??
He can't even be bothered to remember the plans that HE MADE AND WROTE to lie to his Tia about how the date went last night (but he sure had those three minutes & 17 seconds locked in). Like that's not the actions of a straight man
Tumblr media
Feeling like he is "forced to perform"???? Like y'all it doesn't get any more queercoded than that. &&&& we're supposed to think Marisol stands out??? Wasn't the episode she debuted in about like home invasions or something? Red flags from the jump. If anything I was digging the bar girl more than her.
& matter of fact let's talk about that bar date because there's actually sooo much to unpack there. Eddie understands that she wouldn't want to break her Tia's heart, THEN she says "or mine, you get that don't you?". Eddie is still prioritizing other people's wants over his own. Forcing himself on these women is only breaking his heart.
Tumblr media
Eddie was being pressured to date again, & Marisol just happened to be at the right place at the right time. This is just girl he met on a call. He doesn’t know her. And something is telling me he doesn’t want to.
Bonus: A little color theory here (6x14). Eddie is wearing his signature green while his setup was wearing Buck’s baby blue. These colors hint that something is off, as the previous episode has him in green & Buck in baby blue, & Eddie was much more relaxed there. Also, Eddie wears a red suit at his date with Vanessa, which going off the previous episode that has Buck in a red suit, could imply that someone else was on Eddie’s mind during his date.

17/06/25 ★
These weekly revision sessions have become the only source of contact with him. I had two exams today, which is not the point, but I was literally internally drained when I came into his classroom, and so was he. He was sat at his desk, his coffee flask next to him and his head in his hands, "Can we come in?" My friend asked, which he responded with, "Yeah, turn the light on," whilst rubbing his eyes underneath his glasses. He looked exhausted but I think it's because A (his girlfriend) went home early for an unknown reason, before even the first lesson.
For some reason, he made a brief reference towards when I helped out with a history event last year. I just thought it was really strange, but such a detailed thing to say, too intricate for it to be a coincidence.
Me and My friends sat down on the third row and we were just doing the sheet he gave us and then he managed to brighten up after he marked a test and did a mind-map of the renaissance with us. But before that he was sat at his computer and was doing something and was asking people their full names and then he fully looked up at me and said, "Tia, your last name is -, right?" and I just nodded. I'm not quite sure how he was already aware, but he said it the right way, so I'm not complaining.
He made us turn around, meaning I was on the first row, right in front of him & the whiteboard. There was some banter, he was talking to my friend and I had a portable fan and I was holding it so it hit her face and he said, "Tia, get that thing out of her face," since he was explaining the theory of opposites. I'm pretty sure he was just bantering with us. And later, I was talking to my friend and I said, "Oh what would I do without you, (her name)," and he turned around and went, "Die," and then continued writing like nothing happened and I went, "Yeah, probably," and then he turned back around and went, "Actually, you'd be liberated, (her name), you weren't supposed to hear that."
Me and my friends and I have this running joke that people just always call us the wrong names, like my English teacher calls me 'Amy', that he actually went, "What does he call you?" and made me repeat myself, which may or may not be his girlfriends name, coincidence? B is good friends with my English teacher and when I told him that he doesn't know my name after six months of him teaching me and that he'll probably call me it at parent's evening, he said, "Well, I think you just shouldn't tell him, it's funny," he seemed pleased for some reason. But once I repeated myself he said, "But you're not Amy, your Tia," ARE WE JOKING OR IS HE THE CUTEST THING EVER.
He bent down, with one knee on the floor like how people propose so we were joking saying it was him to A one of my friends said something about her really loudly, and I replied, "I was going to say something, but I actually won't," and he went, "Thanks, Tia."
And don't even get me started. My other friend (one I haven't mentioned yet, lmao) kept trying to get his attention, and lately, she had just been fiending for male validation, and I'm so confused. She literally kicked a chair, and it hit him, and he was complaining, and she thought it was funny. Like he was literally in pain? I don't know if I'm just overreacting, but she's literally turning into a pick me, and now she's literally going over the man I love the most? are we actually joking?

Music of TURN
Round 23
The Turtle Dove
4.03: Blood for Blood
In the previous version from season three, it was in Bb minor. Here, it is in E minor. Restless love, grief, and mournfulness.
The song also opens post fight scene of Arnold and Peggy. The topic? John Andre, Peggy's love for him, and his death
The last time we heard this song, we saw the division between Abe and his father. And now, the song Richard once sung to Abe as a child, now plays as Abraham must say goodbye to his father. Death has already occured, and so now it is a time of mourning. The use of the key, knowing that Richard cannot return adds to the grief already expressed in the song.
The instrumentation is so simple, small string ensemble and guitar. But the simplicity just adds this emotional connection and almost a rustic feeling.
Also... little fun fact, I made an arrangement of this for my music theory 4 class. I never did get the live recording... and MuseScore did me dirty with the marimba rolls, but it's just so beautiful.

Surrender Theme
4.09: Reckoning
Once again, I'd consider this Washington's theme more than just the surrender theme. Last time I went into the brass instrumentation of how it feels so grand. Well let's go ahead and check the key... and look at that F major.
(This was actually REALLY hard to do as it's chord progressions and not just a simple melody to follow.)
I thought it might be D Major... (the key you use when you want grand) and it DOES center on D quite often. Using it as a pivot chord to get that grand feeling when it resolves. And it also happens that d minor is the relative key of F Major so I take that as a win.
F Major is associated with calm, serious, and optimism. Which I think very much reflect on Washington for the most part.
One music theorist explained it as "at once full of peace and joy, but also expresses effectively a light, passing regret—a mournful, but not a deeply sorrowful feeling." Which I think perfectly embodies the moment. The passing regret being the war and bloodshed.
I might do a full analysis.... or as best I can on theme, as I'm going to have transcribe by ear. But that way you can see what exactly I'm talking about with the chord transitions and eliciting certain feelings.

Eddie Diaz (+ Family) speculation
Highlighted is the main points and then i go into more thoughts on each
•One of Eddie's sisters has moved to LA(Maybe even both)
-Eddie said at the beginning of EP 6, that he dropped Christopher off at his cousins. I know this could mean one of Eddie's cousins (which would be second cousins to Chris) But we've never heard of any of Eddie's cousins living in LA. We only know of Tia Pepá currently living there. And although this could still be Tia's children/Eddies cousin's, I find it odd that they're only coming up now. All the years of child care support Eddie has needed ? It would have come up sooner
-We've been told we will meet his sister(s?) and I don't think it's going to be just a passing moment (like his probation ceremony where they were just seen)
-I feel like they're laying some ground work for more Diaz Family stuff and this could play into that. I feel like his sisters will be key to parts of his story line (more on this below)
•Abuela has also moved back to LA
-Look is this partially cause I want more Abuela? Yes . Do I want a spin of show with Tia Pepá and Abuela being gossiping shenanigan queens? Absolutely! But Abuela was at the wedding. No context was given to this she was there, I don't think she's flying in just to be a guest in the wedding and if she had flown in with the rest of Eddie's family it would have been mentioned? (If the whole family was in town Eddie would have maybe said I've dropped him off with my family not at his cousins- it sounded like a more permanent situation with his cousin not a visiting situation)
-She lived in LA prior and moved back to Texas cause of COVID and I can bet your ass she wants to come back (get away from Helena and Ramon) I also see that being a problem to Eddie's parents and they would have brought it up as a concern for her well-being but if Eddie's sister has moved also, you know Abuela is arguing a case to move cause there's even more family to keep an eye on her etc (she packed her bags and went fuck this, I'm out)
-This plays into the groundwork for Diaz Family stuff
•Shannon is back
-We know this based on the photo we've seen and it's going to be interesting to see
-We can almost rule out the reason Eddie sees her as anything medical as they've just been through that with Chim. And I reckon it'll be in ghost form (hence the title) but my question is will it be like the Shannon&Chris scene where she's there but not seen or is it something Eddie sees
-I think there will be an interaction of some sort between them, maybe not directly but there will be an Eddie x Shannon conversation going on. Eddie has just finally been made aware/acknowledged of all his repressed catholic guilt (RCG) and a lot of that is going to tie into his relationship with Shannon and the reasons behind it. His unresolved feelings that he is dealing with have come up now because of this RCG. He may have thought he'd made peace with it but now he's dealing with this its probably brining up a lot for him. He either imagines a what if scenario and we see Shannon if she had lived and they have a conversation or its a ghost version who appears to him when he's thinking about it all
-I like the idea of a ghost version that Eddie interacts with because he's now questioning his entire belief system (RCG) and what better to challenge that system then a mf ghost (Eddie doesnt belive in that kind of stuff. Talking to a grave and them watching over-yes. Shannon the friendly ghost not so much)
•Eddie will reach out to Abuela (and his sister) to talk about the Shannon of it all
-After Eddie see's Shannon, he's got even more on his mind. He goes to Abuela's. His sister also happens to be there (You see al these theories coming together now). He talks about what he's going through and his sister and abuela talk him through some of it. His Abuela offering the supportive parental side that he doesnt always get from his parents and his sister offering an understanding thats on the same level because she was raised the same way, she understands his upbringing better than anyone. And yes there are differences , Eddie was told to be the man and step up,but she was there, she lived through it with him
-Eddie has done so well with therapy that i feel he would want to talk about it but not with his parents so Abuela seems the most likely. I feel like he would want to get an understanding of it before he even dared to confront his parents. This RCG will be an ongoing thing but i think Eddie starts to take steps to figure it out.
•Diaz Family Drama(The Will)
-His parents will be in town for something (maybe an award ceremony/presentation of sorts) and although i don't think Eddie's going to come out and say RCG to them, i feel like some comments will be made towards his parents.
-I believe these comments will be about The Will. It'll come out that Buck becomes Chris' legal guardian if anything were to happen to him and this causes outrage and Eddie explains that he wants Chris raised a certain way and Buck understands this(aka not the way Eddie was raised-RCG). Also that Buck is the closest thing to another parent Chris has and therefore it makes the most sense as a person in Chris's life.
-Bonus of if this is when Chris also finds out and despite Helena and Ramon's protests Chris just says 'Buck is like a dad to me'
Shoutout to @whollyjoly and @buck-up-buck as always for listening to me ramble about this like last week! I'm only now putting it in writing

So I have a theory that Jackson's Diary is less of a supernatural and more of a story about two mentally ill people with magic involved and I decided to reread it and keep notes on anything and everything that supports that theory
PS:much easier if you read the chapter after or while reading these notes
Chp5 notes:
•i can tell Jackson's aunt is doing her best but it feels like she's not giving him space to talk out his thoughts and her insisting he's tired because it's only nerves pushes Jackson to push down his emotions
•David forgetting Jackson's name while both exer remembered Jackson's name and Jackson remembered David's and exer's names is a sign both have good memories and are using it to remember everything about everyone
•Jackson tries to be friendly to exer and keeping his good kid facade despite hinted at having nightmares because of him while exer looks annoyed at Jackson's attempt, could be that exer knows Jackson isn't really sincere and hates his fake behavior towards him, maniplutors love fooling others but hate it when someone tries to do the same. Also Jackson's look at exer when he gets a cold response to his friendliness, Jackson starts seeing that his friendly behavior isn't working on exer
•Jackson thinking about his tio&tia words while climbing up the ladder, seems like he's dead set on making them proud despite them saying they already are. maybe deep down Jackson feels like if he doesn't shine his adopted parents won't love him as much
•exer being absolutely p*ssed off that Jackson beat him is the first real sign of his egocentric behavior, everything before that seemed more like him liking himself and it wasn't really bad
•exer literally going as far as needing to be held back by David from how pissed he is and then calling Jackson pathetic compare his behavior to the previous chapters and you'd see these are signs of his mask breaking in half and his ugly side showing more publicly

(To the mun) I'm not quite sure what we could find in the next POTC movie, but the point is it's very hard to believe that Davy Jones will return to us just like that. I mean...Since Sparrow killed Jones taking off his own heart and made Will Turner the future boss of the Flying Dutchman getting his own heart and gaven to Elisabeth Swann...How could Jones be able to return to us? Just curiosity and confusion with the cannon of all POTC movies, just all.
Tumblr media
Well talking about the next POTC movie is reaaally frustrating if we're talking about it being in the works. Disney is being an absolute dumpster fire at the minute and they're considering doing a reboot which doesn't have Johnny Depp in it. And whether people like it or not, he is the face of the franchise. People are always going to watch POTC because of Captain Jack Sparrow! If Disney does make that reboot which might be likely, then it's certainly not going to do well at the box office.
There is no pirates without Johnny Depp!
Now I know that wasn't entirely the focus of your question and I'll get back to it since it's Davy centric XD.
Dead Men Tell No Tales was a pretty bad pirates movie, with plot holes and all sorts of canon breaking such as Jack receiving the compass not from Tia Dalma/Calypso as she says in Dead Man's Chest, but from a dying Captain which still rightfully pisses me off!
But the movie did give us the Trident of Poseidon that held all curses of the sea but then was later broken by Henry Turner which released Will from his duty as Captain of the Flying Dutchman, and Henry got his dad back and he, Carina and Will reunited with Elizabeth.
(Course this raises a whole load of questions because Will no longer has a heart so I don't understand how he's still standing and plus this yet again pissed me off because Davy could have done that all along and he could have been freed? I DON'T KNOW DAMN YE DISNEY)
But at the end of the credits, just like the previous movies there is post-credit scene which reveals Davy entering Will and Elizabeth's home and dramatically limping towards their bed as if to strike them with his claw. Will wakes up with a start, figures it was a nightmare and falls back asleep. BUT! The camera pans down and reveals a puddle of water with a bunch of barnacles in them, so that must mean Davy was actually there but he disappeared for whatever reason.
My theory goes, Calypso resurrected him like she did with Captain Barbossa (POOR HECTOR HE DIED AGAIN GOD DAMN YOU DISNEY) for a purpose. She's the only character in the franchise that has actually brought back someone from the grave, and so she's a likely candidate for bringing back Jonesy. And also, they were in love so maybe she's in some way forgiven him for what he did.
Since all the curses were broken, maybe a certain curse holding back a gigantic monster even bigger than the kraken from the deep, released said monster and Davy needs to grudgingly team with Jack, Will, Elizabeth, Henry and Carina to take it down. Or heck, maybe Beckett's and Mercer's ghost comes back and starts stirring trouble on the seas, and a ghost Norrington helps the heroes because we also need James in there too.
I don't know, lots of theories are in my head but Disney is most likely not going to make another POTC movie that has Johnny and the iconic main cast again by the way things look at the moment. But it's nice to stay hopeful!

Something we’ve been thinking about (collectively; I haven’t been thinking about much of anything, I haven’t been here) lately is a post, more of an essay really, written by an autistic system about the theory that autistic people with DID are more likely to split introjects. The post talked about how the assumption tends to be that it’s purely because of autistic hyperfixations, and how that’s something of a mistake, because alter splits aren’t really caused by just “something you’re interested or obsessed with”, they’re a response to a need. The brain perceives a need that isn’t filled by current alters and creates a new one. That sort of gets lost in the sea of autistic systems talking, usually jokingly, about how all of their splits come from hyperfixations.
And maybe that’s true for some, obviously, but it’s not universal and it’s not true for us. If it were true for us we’d have a lot more fictives, and they’d probably adhere closer to canon: where’s our Bucky, for example, or Professor X, or G’raha Tia? Certainly we split other alters during those hyperfixations, including fictives like Erik (though he’s unrecognisable, you really can’t tell he’s a fictive). Why not the others, when we were just as obsessed with them?
And the answer to that I think is that nothing in those characters fulfilled a need for us. I can’t give you a reason for every introject we’ve ever split nor would I want to, but examples: James (Flint) for the grief of losing Harri and all that that meant to us; Orpheus (Hozier) for coping with how unlovable and replaceable we felt during relationship troubles sometime after that; LV/Syd (Severen/Cid) for coping with the loss of a friend and a total shift in our perception of self that arose from it; the Corinthians to help deal with the fallout of the same and to keep Syd from going insane with loneliness. Me, to harbour feelings surrounding abuse and the realisation that we had been harmed even more horribly than we thought, as well as feelings surrounding the escape itself and… other things I suddenly don’t want to get into actually.
But you see the pattern. It’s not just “I really liked to and related to this character so I split them”. We were always going through something at the time that facilitated the split.
